Yaesu FT-897/Modification instructions for wideband HF settings
These instructions are to enable you to expand the HF coverage of your transceiver to 500kHz per band. Also the modification will extend coverage and modify some settings as per the table on the next page.
Don't forget it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you do not transmit out of your permitted bands.
This modification will also clear any memories and individual changes to settings so make a note of these before you carry out this procedure.
Please note that you are taking full responsibility for any damage caused to the transceiver during this modification exercise. All normal precautions to protect against static electricity should be followed.
- Firstly disconnect from any power source.
- Next remove the top cover
To extend the HF range:
- JP1001 JP1006, JP1008 should be shorted
- JP1002, JP1003, JP1004, JP1005, JP1007, JP1009 should be open circuit
Leave all other jumpers as they are.
Reassemble in reverse order to the disassembly procedure. When fully reassembled apply power and whilst pressing F and V/M turn on the power switch.
The VHF and UHF default channel spacing is set at 12.5kHz and 25 kHz.
Repeater shifts are set to:
- 0.1 MHz for HF
- 0.5MHz for 50MHz
- 0.6MHz for VHF
- 1.6MHz for UHF
